PeaceLove was established in 2009 by Jeff Sparr and Matt Kaplan, to provide free expressive arts classes to communities impacted by mental health disorders. Their work is predicated on the belief that the arts help people create peace of mind. Since February of 2009, the PeaceLove Foundation has provided over 9,000 expressive arts experiences to communities in need. In 2015, PeaceLove launched their CREATORS Program, training professionals to use the PeaceLove workshops with their populations. Since then, PeaceLove has impacted more than 65,000 lives. Equitas Entertaiment partnered with PeaceLove to improve the mental health of incarcerated populations.
PeaceLove will have a presence in several Imprisoned screening events, and dedicate a CREATOR, funded by Equitas, to each city Imprisoned releases in, to engage the public and keep the momentum and practice of Peace of Mind mental wellness moving forward in these areas.
